The Power of Music in the Workplace and Employee Retention
How does music in the workplace influence employee retention and...
Welcome friends😊📋
I had the opportunity to attend the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction a couple of weekends ago. The energy I felt from the music and the people around me was unforgettable. It was an amazing experience!
As leaders in early childhood education, we face challenges with employee retention.
I am constantly exploring new ways to foster an environment that promotes a positive atmosphere, allows employees to focus during their planning time, and embodies engaging energy with children, families, and colleagues.
I began to consider how music could enhance my workplace environment.
Let’s talk about music in the workplace!
These elements are essential for employees seeking fulfilling work experience.
Our work environment stands out because we can seamlessly integrate music into our daily activities, enhancing creativity and fostering a vibrant atmosphere.
3 easy ways to start incorporating music into your workplace culture:
Play upbeat music🕺🏻 in or near the entry way to increase energy and motivation! Starting the day on a positive note will lift the employees' mood as they walk in to begin their day.
In staff workspaces, play softer🎼 and slower tempo music in the background. This will help with concentration during planning time by blocking out distractions. During lunch breaks, it will help relieve stress and allow for relaxation.
The classroom can benefit from using both types of music. Slow-paced music can be played during rest time💤, while faster-paced music can be used throughout the day to facilitate transitions⏯️.
Employees are looking for a workplace where they feel valued and experience reduced stress throughout the day. I believe that incorporating music into our work environment can help employees enhance meaningful connections, improve employee satisfaction in surveys, and positively elevate the culture of our building.
I challenge you to create a morning playlist for your employees, children, and families to enjoy as they walk into your school tomorrow morning. Consider engaging your employees to help create a child-friendly playlist in the future🎶
Till Next Time,
Jen Sprafka😊😊
P.S . Each morning, I have a playlist of songs to boost my energy and get me ready for the day. Click here if you would like to see my playlist!
