Hello 😊📋

Has anyone noticed the decline in the number of others giving their time or wanting to participate in fundraising or volunteering?

I was in a coffee shop this week and overheard a group of women discussing how their child's sports team needed to fundraise and volunteer time for a successful season. They expressed their frustration because they simply wanted to contribute money instead. This got me thinking about creating a culture of giving within my early childhood program.

Are you interested in inspiring children, families, and employees to recognize the valuable benefits of giving their time to make a difference?

Did you know that volunteering can significantly enhance an individual's well-being? It offers numerous benefits that contribute to a healthier and happier life, along with opportunities for employee retention.

Volunteering not only benefits individuals, but also has a positive impact on the community and workplace!

Incorporating giving back into your early childhood program can ELEVATE from other programs. Teaching children about volunteering and giving back is a powerful way to instill important life values. Here are a few reasons why it’s so beneficial:

1.     Empathy: Volunteering helps children understand the needs and struggles of others. By actively engaging in helping those in need, children can develop a sense of empathy and compassion, which are foundational for building strong relationships and a caring attitude toward others.

2.     Responsibility: Volunteering encourages children to take responsibility for their actions and their community. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, assisting at a local food bank, or participating in clean-up activities, they learn that they can contribute to positive change.

3.     Sense of Community: When children volunteer, they become part of a larger network of people working toward a common goal. This sense of belonging can give children a strong sense of connection to the world around them, making them more aware of the importance of cooperation, communication, and supporting one another.

4.     Gratitude and Perspective: Volunteering often exposes children to different life circumstances, giving them a better understanding of their own privileges and encouraging gratitude for what they have. This perspective can shape how they approach challenges in their own lives and foster a mindset of abundance.

5.     Building Life Skills: Through volunteering, children learn valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication. These skills can translate into greater confidence and personal development, helping them as they grow into responsible and compassionate adults.

By incorporating volunteering into their lives from a young age, children are more likely to grow into individuals who value service, generosity, and the importance of making a positive impact on the world around them.

Have you ever heard the quote, “Be the change you want to see”?

I would like to shift the mindset of others regarding the concept of giving. Many people believe that simply donating money is sufficient, but I want to highlight the numerous benefits of volunteering time instead. Giving time can have a much greater impact on the lives of both the giver and the receiver compared to just giving money. Therefore, I intend to start my early childhood program by exposing children and families to a variety of opportunities to give back to our community.

What change do you aspire to create, and in what ways will you lead by example?

Till Next Time,
