Defining Roles and Responsibilities

So, the other day I saw this image below on social media and it got me thinking 🤔 

Do you feel like this is happening in your early childhood program?

Do you what to change things as a leader, so that your days run smoothly with everybody getting things accomplished?

This week let’s talk about how and why it is important to define role and responsibilities 😊

 Why should there be defined roles and responsibilities?

When you have clearly defined roles and expectations employees know how to act, are more effective, cooperative, and know what needs to be accomplished throughout the day.

 How to define roles and responsibilities:

1. Identify what roles are needed with in your early childhood program

2. Create a job title

3. Purpose of this position within your early childhood program

4. Define the responsibilities of this position

5. Identify the education, knowledge, experience, and skills needed to perform this role

As leaders, our role is to provide direction and support.

We all have heard the quote:

Unfortunately, sometimes leaders have a vision but not a great team😟.

🗼Building a successful and happy team takes time and hard work!

As a leader, your role is to provide direction and support. To do this, the tools🔨 I use as a leader are:

• Clear communication📞

•  Materials are provided so that employees able to perform their role effectively

•  A set calendar with meetings and deadlines📆

• Give feedback constantly

I know that times are tough in our field with staff turnover. If your current employees understand their role and responsibilities then the expectation will be the standard with new employees. This will help with retention and company culture.

So, I challenge you this week to identify the roles and the responsibilities that are currently needed within your early childhood program to have a successful day😊
